Day of Hope #89

Wednesday May 13 – Day of Hope #89

Goal: Continue writing my book and further my education

Quote: What’s the best thing about writing a book? Finishing it. – Said, anyone who has written a book

For this Day of Hope, I checked into the Marriott Residence Inn in Boise, my personal getaway to write, reset, and reconnect with my goals. The front desk assigned me Room 713, and I smiled instantly. I hadn’t requested it, but the universe knows me well. Anytime the number “13” shows up in my life, I take it as a sign that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

It was a long day that day, I had to work through most of the morning, but I managed to wrap up by 1:00pm and made it to the hotel by 2:00pm. In the middle of a pandemic, flexibility was key. We were all doing things we never imagined, adapting in ways we never expected.

As soon as I arrived, I set up my items to take an online writing class with one of my favorite mentors, Marie Forleo. The class was called “5 Writing Mistakes You Can’t Afford to Make.” Marie is my go-to for anything related to creative business, and as a published author herself, I knew I would be inspired. And I was.

It felt so good to be writing again—to be pouring into something that fuels me. I made myself a nourishing dinner in the hotel room’s kitchen: brown rice pasta topped with fresh tomatoes and avocado, paired with a few of my favorite juice drinks. Healthy body, healthy mind.

I spent the evening writing several chapters for my book, journaling, and reflecting. I went to bed early, satisfied with the progress I was making, not just in the book, but in myself.

The next morning, I was up early for a Webex meeting at 8:30 am. By 9:30 am, I was listening to our company’s CEO speak about post-pandemic plans and how we’d continue working remotely. After the meeting, I had a break and used the late checkout to squeeze in more journaling, walking, meditation, and tapping. It helped get me grounded and re-centered me.

These Days of Hope feel like magic to me. I left feeling more focused and committed than ever to finishing my book. These days matter. These moments of intention are what carry me through.

Update on COVID pandemic things were slowly opening over the weekend. When they opened it up for a short period of time, we crossed the state lines and went to Utah for Mother's Day. I used my traveling spa idea from back in March for the girls in the family, and we enjoyed a spa Mother’s Day treat.

My lesson of hope: Making time for the things that fuel your soul isn’t selfish, it’s essential. When life feels overwhelming, don’t quit on yourself. Breathe. Reset. Keep going. The payoff is waiting on the other side of persistence.
