Day of Hope #94

Tuesday October 13 – Day of Hope #94

Goal: More writing, writing, writing

Quote: “Allow your passion to become your purpose, and it will one day become your profession.” - Unknown

I’ll be honest, some of my Day of Hope entries this year have felt a bit repetitive. But let’s face it: we were still deep in a pandemic, and options for big adventures were limited. That said, these quiet weekends of writing have held their own kind of magic.

Once again, I checked into the Residence Inn Marriott near BSU, my go-to writing retreat. I arrived on Monday and stayed through Wednesday, fully focused and locked into my goal: finish the book.

And I did just that, writing, writing, writing. Page after page. Word after word. I was so close to finishing. My goal was to have a complete draft, scratch that, a manuscript (still wild to say that!) to my dear friend Idgie by November for editing. My birthday was later that month, and I wanted the finished draft to be my gift to myself.

I also started planning something that felt incredibly meaningful: a book circle with my girlfriends. Once the edits came back from Idgie, I wanted to gather a few trusted friends to read it, share feedback, and help me shape the final version.

Even now, it still feels surreal. A published book? My book? But it was happening. It’s happening.

My lesson of hope: When you’re working on something you love, something that truly lights you up, it doesn’t feel like work. Time disappears. The hours fly by. And in that space of passion and purpose, you realize - this is what you were made to do.
